Doug Viggato, CPA – Partner
Doug has been providing tax consulting and compliance
services to clients since 1996. He currently
serves clients ranging from individuals and closely-held
companies to SEC registered public companies. Doug’s
primary practice is in real estate, investment management
and family partnership taxation, but he serves clients
in several areas such as manufacturing, health care
and energy. He provides consultation on tax issues
such as the following:
- Planning and development of tax strategies for
single and multi-entity businesses
- Oversight and management of large-scale federal
and state tax compliance engagements
- Tax planning and structuring for real estate partnership
transactions
- Deferred and reverse like kind exchanges for one
or multiple properties
- Complex partnership allocations and book-up adjustments,
common in the real estate and investment industry
- Consultation and structuring regarding business
entity selection for tax efficiency and liability
protection
- Consultation regarding the tax aspects of business
purchase and sale transactions utilizing stock or
assets for one or multiple entities
- Tax planning for families using family limited
partnerships, including capital account maintenance
and transfer issues
Prior to Barker Viggato, LLP, Doug served as a principal
with the firm of Saville Dodgen & Co. where he
specialized in real estate, family partnerships and
business purchase/sale transactions. Doug formerly
served as a tax manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers
working with real estate, investment and family limited
partnership clients.
Doug holds his CPA license in Texas and is a member
of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants
and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Doug graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock,
Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration in
Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting with
an emphasis in Taxation.
